Wild Rides at Wildrose - Rnd 9/10 Recap
Gnarly Battles, Mud Tasting, and Anticipation for the International Race
Saturday Round 9 took us to the main track at Wildrose, and boy, was it one epic day! The rain from the day before left some greasy sections, but you know what they say - Mud is the great equalizer. It doesn't care if you're a pro or a beginner, it'll humble us all! The weather gods blessed us with hot sun and clear skies, and the Hooligans were ready to tear it up.
In the 30+ Novice class, the battle was on! Rick and Graham went head-to-head, with Mark not far behind. Rick took a spill on lap 3, making it a bit tricky for Mark to dodge him, but hey, that's motocross, right? Beach showed us how it's done, leaving everyone else in the dust. In Moto 2, Rick tried to make up for it and grabbed the holeshot like a boss. But fate had other plans, and he went down again, like a seasoned rollercoaster rider. Mark seized the opportunity and secured the win, with Graham rocking second and Rick powering through for a gritty third.
Sunday brought us to the hill track for Round 10, and the battles continued. In Moto 1, Rick was on a mission for redemption, but those hills can be tricky. He went off track like a fearless explorer, and Mark snatched the lead, taking another victory. Neil Fluet snagged second, while Graham settled for third and Rick showed his Hooligan spirit, fighting back for a solid fourth. In Moto 2, Rick got that holeshot and led for a good chunk of laps, but Graham had his eye on the prize. Graham found some wicked lines and took the lead late in the race, securing another first-place finish. Rick held on for a well-deserved second, and Mark rounded it out in third.
Now, let's talk 30+ Intermediate - the boys were ripping it up like there was no tomorrow! John Bestilny was on fire in Moto 1, with Dunny putting the heat on him at every turn. And we can't forget Jimmy, throwing down some epic jumps! Sandy and Joey were also in the mix, giving us all a show to remember. Bestilny claimed first, Dunny held strong for second, Jimmy got his groove on in third, while Sandy and Joey did us proud in fifth and seventh.
Sunday's 30+ Intermediate action was just as rad! Dunny was on a rampage, dominating like a motocross boss and taking first in both motos. Bestilny secured third in Moto 1 but DNS Moto 2, but hey, it's all part of the thrill, right? Jimmy showed us his A-game, getting fourth and third respectively. Sandy and Joey brought the heat, but unable to podium, and keeping us all on the edge of our seats.
In the 30+ Expert class, Ryan and TJ were tearing it up, battling like gladiators for that top spot. TJ claimed first in Moto 1, with Ryan taking a solid second. They swapped positions in Moto 2, making it one intense showdown. Colin, unfortunately, couldn't join in on the action, but McGrath saw his chance and made his move.
Sunday's hill track brought more epic battles for the 30+ Expert class. TJ Sara absolutely dominated like a champ, securing both first-place finishes with style. Ryan Bisanz held strong in second in both motos, while McGrath nailed third, showing us that the Hooligans never back down.
Let's give a massive shoutout to Jesses Halladay in the 40+ Intermediate! He's been crushing it and battling with Orin for those sweet, sweet points. But the Hooligans spiced it up by joining the class and making it a fierce rivalry for bragging rights. Jimmy and Jesse were going at it like a duo of daredevils, flying off jumps and crossing paths like a motocross ballet. Jesse dominated the Hooligans, while Jimmy chased him down in second, adding a bit more Hooligan spirit to the mix.
And let's not forget about the awesome Ladies A and Ladies B classes. Janelle Bartlett was a force to be reckoned with, taking first in both days. Elyse Mcintyre was right on her tail, securing second. In Ladies B, Roux Sillito and Braeden Orr brought the heat, with Roux taking the lead and Braeden holding strong in second. Ayla Halladay also joined the party, showing us that the Ladies B class is as fierce as it gets.
