Cheers to the Chaos!

AOTMX 2023: Revving to Hell and Back, Cheers to the Chaos!

Revving Up the Madness

Ladies and gentlemen, it's been a season of mud, sweat, and torn-up tracks, and it's time to bring this wild, hilarious, and heart-pounding season to a close.

Saluting the Pit Warriors

But before we sign off, let's tip our hats (or helmets) to the heroes who make this motocross madness possible—the AOTMX Volunteers. These folks have worked harder than a beaver on a cocaine bender to ensure our races ran smoother than a freshly paved highway. From track prep (Chris, would it kill ya to crack a smile once in a while?) to flag waving, they've been the glue holding this motocross circus together. So here's to you, you magnificent pit warriors!

Tracks, Tires, and Total Chaos

Now, let's give a raucous shoutout to the Cold Lake Motocross Association, Stettler Motocross Association, Wildrose Motocross Association, and Whitecourt Motocross Association. These tracks have been our playgrounds, our battlegrounds, and our temples of tire-squealing chaos. We owe them more than we owe our bike mechanics (and that's saying something).

Save the Dates for Mayhem

But the season ain't over yet, folks! Mark your calendars for the Race for the Future on September 9th and the AOTMX Team Race on the 10th at Antler Lake MX. If you haven't experienced these events yet, you're missing out on more fun than a barrel of monkeys with jetpacks.

Race for the Future: Where Hearts Race Faster Than Engines

Now, what the hell is the Race for the Future, you ask? It's not just a race; it's a fundraiser with more heart than a cardiologist's convention. This event is dedicated to these two AOTMX alumni Ken Stevenson and David Charlton, who remind us that one moment of madness can change your life forever.

Ken Stevenson, the man, the myth, the mud-splattered legend, had a crash in 2008 that left him a quadriplegic. He's got more guts than a chili cook-off and more determination than a squirrel trying to get into a bird feeder.

David Charlton, rest his soul, met his end on August 8, 2015, doing what he loved—tearing up the track. In their honor, the AOTMX raises more money than a biker gang on a bank heist to support riders and their families when the going gets tough.

Through this event, they've been able to provide financial support to the Stevenson family and, as per the Charlton's wishes, maintain a fund in David's memory. It's their way of ensuring that if another AOTMX nutcase faces life-altering shit, they've got their back.

Team Race: Friends, Fumes, and Bragging Rights

And for you thrill-seekers looking to take motocross bonding to the next level, the Team Race is your ticket to motocross Nirvana. Teams of three racers log as many laps as they can in three hours. It's not just about winning; it's about making memories, destroying your dipshit friends on the track, and flaunting those bragging rights like a peacock in heat.

Champions, Chaos, and Crowned Glory

Now, it's time to celebrate our 2023 AOTMX Champions, and trust me, these folks didn't win by sipping tea and knitting sweaters.

In the 30+ Novice class, Graham Beach took the top spot like a boss, with Rick Krull nipping at his heels and Justin Leblanc throwing down some epic dirt-dancing moves to grab third.

In the 30+ Intermediate class, Ryan Dunlop showed us all how it's done, with Jimmy Peters refusing to be outdone in second (he's been chasing Ryan's exhaust fumes all season), and Joey Ogden proving that he's got more nerve than a toothache in third.

Now, in the 30+ Expert class, Ryan Bisanz didn't just win; he obliterated the competition, with TJ Sara trying to catch his mud-splattered glory in second, and Kevin McGrath proving he's no shrinking violet in third.

Adam Sallie owned the 40+ Novice class, with Malcolm Whidden giving it his all in second, and Troy King reminding us that bronze is a beautiful color too.

Jesse Halladay, the madman on one wheel, dominated the 40+ Intermediate class, with Darren Strasdin refusing to back down in second (he was practically breathing down Jesse's exhaust pipe), and Orin Hillman showcasing some serious skills in third.

The Kids Who Rock the Dirt

Now, let's talk about the 65cc and 85cc classes, where these kids have shown us that age is just a number, and they're racing like their diapers are on fire.

In the 65cc class, Paxton Ogden claimed first place like a mini tornado, with Ryker Auriat hot on his heels in second (he's been eating Paxton's dust all season), Zayden Halladay snatching third (he's got more courage than a rodeo clown), Ashe Mclaren showing off some serious skills in fourth, and Paxton Krull rounding out the top five, proving that the future of motocross is in damn good hands.

In the 85cc class, Sterling Fahlman tore up the track like a Tasmanian devil on a sugar rush, with Cooper Pouliot trying to catch his mud-slinging action in second, Lewis Cyril sliding into third (he's got more guts than a bear in a beehive), Alfie Sillito gripping fourth, and Carter King rounding out the top five, proving that motocross blood runs in their damn veins.

Queens of the MX Kingdom

And let's not forget the ladies who showed us that they can ride just as hard as the guys. In the Ladies A class, Karen Rominick bulldozed her way to first place, with Elyse Mcintyre chasing her shadow in second (seriously, Elyse, bring some shades next time), and Angela Martyshuk taking third, showing us that these ladies can kick some serious ass.

In the Ladies B class, Roux Sillito took the throne like a queen of chaos, with Braeden Orr grabbing second (She was like a tornado in a teacup), and Heather Rominick strutting her stuff in third (seriously, Heather, can we borrow some of your confidence?).

Bonnie: The Gatekeeper of Chaos

But before we wrap this motocross madness up, we need to send a massive shoutout to Bonnie, our Gate Marshal extraordinaire. Bonnie, you've been the guardian of our gates, the keeper of our chaos, and we wish you nothing but endless wheelies and mud-splattered adventures in your future. As the Race for the Future marks your grand finale, we salute you with a roar louder than a full-throttle revving engine.

Motocross: More Than a Sport, It's a Lifestyle

So, Hooligans, racers, and you nutcases who just love watching us fly through the air, as we gear up for the final showdown of the season, remember that motocross isn't just a sport—it's a way of life. Here's to the AOTMX 2023 season—a season drenched in mud, gasoline, and the indomitable spirit of the Hooligans!

Cruisin' into the Next Races: Hooligans' September Showdown!

But hold onto your helmets, because the Hooligans are far from done with the 2023 motocross season! We've got our sights set on the Mason Watt Memorial race in Cold Lake, Alberta, happening on September 23rd. It's a race close to our hearts, honoring a fallen rider and bringing the motocross community together. And if that's not enough adrenaline for you, mark September 30th on your calendar because we're revving up for the Central Alberta Motocross Series (CAMS) race in Drumheller. It's bound to be a dirt-churning, heart-pounding showdown.

But wait, there's more! Aside from the Race for the Future and the Team Race, the Hooligans will be front and center at the awards banquet, ready to claim those coveted trophies and celebrate a season filled with mud-slinging, gas-burning, and unforgettable moments. So, gear up, because the Hooligans are far from hitting the brakes. We'll see you at the track, the memorial, and the banquet—wherever there's dirt to conquer and camaraderie to share!

Stay crazy, stay gnarly, and we'll see you in the pits, you magnificent sons of dirt! 🏁✊🤘
